Rifugio Sasso Piatto

Along the Friedrich August trail, much loved by hikers, at the foot of the Sassolungo group, in particular the top of the Sasso Piatto, there is the homonymous refuge.

At an altitude of 2300 metres, the Rifugio Sasso Piatto, on the border between Val di Fassa (Trentino) and Alpe di Siusi (South Tyrol), welcomes many walkers, from early June to early October. Recently renovated and expanded, it has a large indoor room with several seats and numerous tables on the outdoor terrace. Among the specialties to savour, those typical of Ladin cuisine: from the chopping boards of speck and local cheeses, to the first such as canederli tris and vegetable soups, to the second such as eggs with speck and potatoes, and different types of meat accompanied by excellent vegetables. There are also dishes for vegetarians and celiacs. Among the desserts, in addition to strudels and delicious cakes, try the Kaiserschmarren, served with cranberry jam. Worthy of note for children is the small park with strictly wooden games and the animals, cows and horses, which spend the summer in the pasture.
